At Direct Metals Recycling, we strive to make the world a better place. We want to save the earth from the destruction of constantly stripping raw, precious metals from the crust by encouraging and facilitating good, green recycling practices. Unfortunately, we can’t save the world single handedly. We need your help to protect the earth from the damages done by constat stripping of raw materials, and dumping trash into landfills. To help us, become educated about what can and can’t be recycled, and take the necessary steps to change the way that you trash or recycle your unwanted materials.
This is a great infographic that was developed by Cardella Waste showing the facts about trash vs. recycling and how many materials that you toss into the garbage bin everyday that could actually be recycled and made into something new. Check out these statistics and share it with your friends and family. Let them in on how important it is to recycle, and save the earth!
- 50,000,000 homes could be heated for 20 years using the paper and wood thrown away in just one year!
- 250,000,000 tons of municipal solid waste are produced in the U.S. each year. If 75% of that waste is recyclable, and only 30% of that 75% is actually getting recycled, that means that we are throwing away 131,250,000 tons of recyclable materials every year!
- Many common materials are recyclable, including metal! Next time you think about throwing something away, stop and think, “Can I recycle this instead?”
