Cell Phone Recycling Awareness Contest

English: Mobile phone evolution Русский: Эволю...

Direct Metals Recycling is thrilled that we’ve found this contest for students in grades K-12 and we encourage you to share it with your teachers or other students so that they can enter to win! Increasing knowledge about cell phone and other electronics recycling is essential. There are millions of cell phones discarded each year that release toxic substances in landfills. Instead, these cell phones can be recycled. The precious metals and plastics they contain can be used to make more electronics, or the can be refurbished for those in need.

Learn more about this contest sponsored by JASON Learning and the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries on their website. Make sure that you get your entry submitted by January 31, 2014 so that you will be eligible for the drawing on March 1, 2014. Winners will be chosen from three grade bands: K-4, 5-8, and 9-12, in addition to two overall grand-prize winners and up to two additional “honorable mentions” per media group in each grade band.

We look forward to seeing your entry as the grand prize winner in March!
